Key Skills Level 1 & 2
Key skills are skills that are commonly needed for success in a range of activities in education and training, work and life in general. The key skills qualifications aim to develop and recognise candidates' ability to apply these skills in ways that are appropriate to different contexts in order to improve the quality of learning and performance. The key skills qualifications are designed to recognise candidates' progression in terms of both techniques and skills of application.
To gain certification at levels 1 - 2 candidates must successfully complete a portfolio of evidence and pass a test.
Application of Number
The aim of the application of number qualification is to encourage candidates to develop and demonstrate their skills in interpreting information involving numbers, carrying out calculations, interpreting results and presenting findings. This qualification is essentially concerned with developing and recognising the ability of candidates to select and apply numerical, graphical and related mathematical skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context.
Communication
The aim of the communication qualification is to encourage candidates to develop and demonstrate their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills (including the use of images) for different purposes. This qualification is essentially concerned with developing and recognising the ability of candidates to select and apply skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
The aim of the information and communication technology qualification is to encourage candidates to develop and demonstrate their skills in using IT for finding, exploring, developing and presenting information (text, images and numbers). This qualification is essentially concerned with developing and recognising the ability of candidates to select and apply IT skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context.
